"You'll thank me later!" - Why a child doesn't want to go to school

There are two questions worth answering honestly:

- Does your child want to go to school?
- If not, why not?

We bet you've never asked yourself or your child the second question. And you should.

Why does a child turn from an inquisitive "whiz kid" from the very first classes into a sloth, "cranky" every morning, brings bad grades?

The pandemic forced schools to switch to an online learning format and exposed the flaws in the system itself. It found that:

- not all educators are really good at explaining the material;
- not always treating students in an ethical manner;
- not all programs allow new information to be absorbed effectively.

Many parents think that it is the distance format that is to blame. This is not true: it is just that online they can appreciate the quality of education. Parents are involved in the learning process, can see how lessons are conducted, what assignments are given, how the teacher treats the children. Pandemic has become a great marker of the problems.

It turned out that children's reluctance to go to school has reasons. And they vary from the attitude of the teacher to one topic that is not fully understood.
What should you do if your child doesn't want to go to school?

You can say, "It's all for your own good. You'll thank me later." But you don't say thank you. On the contrary.

So what's worth doing?

- Choose schools more carefully, not limiting yourself to those that are close by;
- to change it if there's a problem;
- don't be afraid to change the format itself.

You can leverage additional education, including Palme School - and show that learning can be a joy.

Ask your child right now if he or she wants to go to school. And if not, think about what to change.

Based on an interview with Dima Zitzer, "A child should, if not run, then go to school with pleasure."
