How to install Zoom?
Download Zoom for your computer or tablet from the official website. We do not recommend joining from a phone because the small screen limits functionality.
How to join a lesson?
In your personal account, a "Join" button will appear 30 minutes before the lesson. You can also use the Meeting ID and password provided in your account.
Zoom asks for a password / Meeting ID — what should I do?
If you join via the link from your personal account, no password is needed. If Zoom still asks — the password is shown next to the link.
Which Zoom functions might be needed?
Turning camera and microphone on/off, reactions, drawing tools (on computer and tablet).
Why can’t the teacher hear me?
Check that Zoom has access to your microphone, verify audio settings inside Zoom, and system sound settings on your device.
What to do if I can’t see the teacher’s screen?
Switch to full screen mode and select “Teacher’s Screen” manually. If it doesn’t help — leave and rejoin the meeting.
Zoom freezes or disconnects — what should I do?
Reconnect via the same link. Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi is better than mobile data). Restart your device or router if needed.
When should I connect to the lesson?
5 minutes before the start, to check camera and microphone.
Do parents need to be present during lessons?
No, except for the first few lessons for children aged 4–6 (it is recommended to stay nearby for adaptation).
How to prepare the child’s workspace?
A comfortable desk and chair, good lighting, and a separate notebook for each subject.
Is it allowed to eat during the lesson?
No, it is distracting and unsafe.
Where can I find homework?
In your personal account.
How should it be done?
In a notebook, a PDF editor, or by printing the assignment.
How to submit completed work?
Take a photo or scan and send it to the teacher.
Can I freeze my subscription?
Yes: annual plan — up to 30 days, half-year plan — up to 15 days, and additionally during school holidays.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, but please notify us in advance to avoid automatic renewal charges.
Will I get a refund if I cancel?
Yes, within 7 days after payment: we refund the amount minus $17 for each attended lesson.
Is there a referral program?
Yes! At Palme School, there is Referral programInvite friends and get free lessons for each one.
How many lessons will I get for inviting someone?
For every friend, you can get up to 6 lessons: +1 lesson for their agreement and contact information, +1 lesson after their introductory session, and +4 lessons if they become a school client. More details at Referral Program Page.
How many friends can you invite?
Unlimited. After inviting a few friends, you can participate for free for up to six months or more.
What is the Soft Skills program at Palme School?
This is an online program for school-aged children in small groups of 4-8 people, aimed at developing attention, memory, self-control, communication, and emotional intelligence. More details can be found at program page.
How do soft skills differ from regular subjects?
Soft skills are skills that work in any situation: at school, at home, in a team. The program covers two blocks: executive functions (planning, time management, self-control) and social-emotional skills (empathy, communication, the ability to cope with failure).
How do soft skills classes work?
Live online classes in mini-groups: role-playing games, case studies, team assignments. All in Russian, taking into account the specifics of Russian-speaking families abroad. Webinars and consultations with a psychologist are available to parents.
What other subjects are there at Palme School?
In addition to Russian, the school teaches math, reading, chess, and soft skills. The full list is at School page and in the section all items.
Are there chess lessons at school?
Yes! Online chess school Suitable for children from 5 years old — both for beginners from scratch and for those who want to improve their game. Classes are held twice a week for 40 minutes, with an original program of 96 hours of theory and practice: mini-tournaments, simultaneous games, chess puzzles.
Chess develops beyond the game itself.
Chess lessons train logic, concentration, strategic thinking, the ability to cope with defeat, and responsibility for decisions made. Students at the school regularly win prizes in tournaments, and some are part of junior national teams.
