Why keep in touch with your homeland

After living abroad for many years, it may seem to us that we have become different people. We really are. What has happened is not the replacement of our personality, but its expansion. The "Russianness" in us has not disappeared, has not been displaced by a new language or a new culture. Our brain and psyche simply placed it on the second plan. It is necessary to keep in touch with the Motherland, no matter how long you have lived abroad. And that's why you should do it:

- Maintaining a connection to our homeland helps us to self-identify. We are absorbed in the hustle and bustle of trying to adapt to new conditions, dealing with children and home, and working. It seems to us that we are accomplished parents, we have a successful career and everything is good. And then inside there are questions "who am I?", "what am I like?", "why am I like this?". And the answers to these questions lie in nationality. I am Russian, which means I am brave, generous, courageous, hospitable, protective.
- We need to keep the Russian language. And not just because you can communicate with friends and relatives who live in Russia. By preserving Russian speech, we preserve Russian thinking. And by preserving this thinking, we look at problems differently and find effective ways of solving them.
- By preserving language, we preserve culture. Using turns of speech that are familiar to us, discussing landmarks, repeating history, admiring achievements, bringing in traditions and holidays. By valuing the past, we are more successful in shaping our present and future. And thus, the future of our children.

Let your homeland into your life in the form of photos, videos, memories and trips. Ask your parents more often about your grandmothers and great-grandmothers, and study your family history. This is pride and self-awareness, realizing yourself as an individual and at the same time part of something important.

And we also have children growing up. And they too need self-identification, Russian traditions, holidays, photographs and new impressions. Children need to know Russian culture and history. Because Russians are not only you, but they are Russians too.
