Friends, hello! Palme School is here with you! If you wanted to know about the projects in our Russian classes, today we will tell you more about them.
So, in an earlier article, we've already talked about about the loop program of our lessons. Let's briefly remind you how it works.
At Palme School, all children are placed in a suitable group for their level and age after an interview:
Each level of training at our school is called a cycle. Usually, each cycle lasts for 8-9 months.
Depending on the number of sessions per week (1 or 2), each cycle is divided into 7 or 14 blocks.
Further, each block consists of 5 lessons devoted to a certain topic. And each of these topics is accompanied by its own project.
For example, let's take preschoolers (a group of 4-6 year olds). During the whole block - 5 sessions - they are looking for the code word, guessing riddles and collecting rebuses.
While older students prepare more serious projects that focus on the theme of the unit. For example, they may collect artifacts to connect all the knowledge into a single goal in the last lesson. Once the topic is covered and the project is completed, the children move through the cycle to the next project.
What are we doing this for? In fact, the project method works great as a red thread for better vocabulary memorization. In addition, students develop shared memories and practice communication and teamwork skills.
To make it clearer, let us give an example of one of the projects. In one of the blocks, pupils get acquainted with the hero of R.E. Raspe's book - Baron Munchausen. This character is perfectly suited to accompany the theme of traveling. Together with Munchausen children go on a fascinating journey. And in 5 lessons - at the end of the project - the pupils realize that they have come to Sakhalin.
As a result, at the end of the unit, pupils will gain knowledge in several areas at once. Firstly, they will enrich their vocabulary on the topic of traveling. Secondly, they will get acquainted with an interesting geographical object. And finally, they will work in a team, have an interesting time, and consolidate their knowledge from previous lessons.
