New monsters are taking over the world! Parents are going crazy. Kids used to beg for Kissy-Missy and Huggy-Wuggy. Then came Laboubou - cuter, but no less intimidating monsters. There were Wakuku.
And now the Labooboo is obsolete. And they've been replaced by the new freaks, the Fugglers.
Nobody bothered with the name of the new trend. It comes from the English words Funny Ugly Monsters, which literally translates as funny and ugly monsters.
What's the appeal new trend? Why do kids love these freaks so much?
New toys: trend 2026

The trend of ugly toys has only recently emerged. Before that, they also existed, but they were not so popular.
Suddenly all of a sudden all the kids started dreaming about Huggy-Wuggy monsters.
Parents were in a panic. Especially against the background of psychologists' warnings about the dangers of these toys.
Against the background of Haggy-Waggy Labooboo turned out to be very cute and parents began to buy them more actively. The popularity was also affected by the global trend to carry these toys on bags as a key chain. This is what the world's biggest stars did.
Labubu's marketing campaign was planned very well. The toys were sold in closed boxes, and the customer never knew which one he would get. At the same time, there were common and rare pieces that collectors were after.
By the way, still some rare Labooboo can become 2026 collectible figures.
And then it was the fuggler's turn.

These toys look like badly swollen and tired animals of obscure origin with human teeth. Some have ears like a bunny. Some have a cat silhouette. And some have three eyes.
All fugglers are different. But unlike Labubu, the buyer sees which monster he chooses. Fuggler packages are open.
Psychologists on the trend for scary toys
Specialists treat toys with crooked teeth and scary eyes differently.
In the case of Huggi-Wuggies, they have been proven to provoke nightmares and fears in the child. In addition, dangerous chemicals have been found in the production of these toys.
Things were not so clear with Labooboo. Some psychologists called these monsters the embodiment of children's inner anxiety. They argued that Labooboo helped the child to accept and process their inner problems.
Of course, there were those who were strongly opposed to these toys.
And now, experts are debating whether fugglers are safe for children's unformed psyches.
Many psychologists from Russia are convinced that these are destructive toys that children should not play with.
Their human teeth, half-closed, as if puffy eyes and scary smiles will not bring anything good to the child. On the contrary, they can cause psychological problems and phobias.
Russian psychologists are particularly concerned about the imposition of foreign values through such toys. After all, all of them are not created in Russia.
Is it worth buying a fuggler for a child

Specialists believe that toys themselves do not carry any emotional coloring. What matters is the meaning that parents and children themselves put into them.
In addition, it is better not to distort the perception of reality in a small child with such toys. Toddlers are more suitable for toys that look like real animals. But older children, especially teenagers, it is quite possible to buy a fuggler.
But in the end, it is up to the parents to make this decision. After all, it is the parents who know their child like no one else and can understand whether such a toy will harm him or not.
Despite different opinions, scary toys have been trending for years. There are millions of publications with such characters on the Internet. People are ready to give huge money for monsters. Freaks become trendy toys for collectors.
