We charge our gadgets every day. But where and how do children "recharge"? Psychologists are sure that such recharging is idleness.
It's good for the psyche
The resting state reduces the child's level of excitability. The child unconsciously "puts himself together piece by piece". He listens to himself, feelings, desires. If at school he plays the role of a leader and gets tired of it, at home he may wonder whether he needs it, whether he wants to continue behaving like that.
Good for creativity
When a child is relaxed, he or she can start dreaming and fantasizing, thinking up incredible things, drawing, sculpting, building things. A rested brain can come up with creative ideas that will take over the whole child.
It's important for the brain
Remember Isaac Newton? An apple fell on his head and he had an epiphany. And what was the scientist doing at that moment? Sitting under a tree, relaxing. No sweating in the lab, no agonizing over calculations, no checking data. Just doing nothing.
The secret is this. When a child is trying to solve a problem or learn something new, his brain is working. But when he goes to rest, his brain continues to work, but in a different mode. Since no external tasks need to be solved, it concentrates on the most important one - the one the child was trying to fulfill. And, as a rule, successfully copes with it. A Russian proverb says: "The morning is wiser in the evening".
