What “Reading School” is for
Reading School is an educational course designed to help bilingual and Russian-speaking children develop balanced speaking, reading, and writing skills. Many children speak Russian fluently but struggle to read — sometimes they can’t read at all, which also affects their writing skills.
This creates a gap: when judged by their speaking ability, they seem ready for a higher level, but they can’t handle the reading materials at that level. If placed in a lower group, they end up with peers who speak worse — and the lessons become too easy. Reading School bridges that gap.
Who the program is for
The Reading School program is designed for children aged 4 to 14 and divided into three age groups:
- Preschoolers (4–6 years old) — first steps in reading, developing listening comprehension, and learning the alphabet.
- Younger students (7–9 years old) — learning to read, understanding texts, and developing meaningful reading skills.
- Older students and teens (10–14 years old) — fluent, conscious reading and vocabulary expansion.

Program Structure
The Reading School program is organized by age and divided into learning cycles. Each cycle is a separate course with its own goals and measurable results. Step by step, children progress from their first attempts at reading to confident, meaningful text comprehension — preparing them for literary studies.
Cycle 1
Foundations of Reading and Writing
Children learn to recognize sounds, understand the connection between sounds and letters, and develop their initial reading and writing skills.
Cycle 2
Reading and Text Comprehension
Students move on to syllabic reading, practice with short texts, explore storylines, and strengthen their ability to understand meaning.
Cycle 3
Fluency and Deep Understanding
Reading becomes more confident and expressive. Children expand their vocabulary, develop attention to detail, and build a strong foundation for studying literature.
