Since 2015, the Russian Geographical Society has hosted an annual photography competition titled “The Most Beautiful Country.” The contest features 11 main categories, along with five special awards and four children’s nominations.
Participation is open not only to Russian citizens but also to foreign photographers. The only rule: all photos must be taken within Russia’s borders. Considering the country’s vast geography — from tundra to desert, from mountains to sea — the creative possibilities are limitless.
The winners were announced in September, and the portal “Window to Russia” showcased the winning works. Below are ten photographs that particularly caught the attention of the Palme School editorial team.
