Ways to develop a child's emotional intelligence

The ability to understand and manage your emotions is an important prerequisite for a happy life and a successful career. That is why it is necessary to start developing emotional intelligence at an early age. We offer 6 exercises for children and adults from psychologist Victoria Shimanskaya:

1. A box of emotions. It will be very useful for both children and their parents to create such a "happiness box" in their imagination. Let it contain everything that happiness is associated with. For example, the sound of the sea, the taste of orange, the smell of mom's cakes.
2. What I'm feeling today. Have the child choose an emotion of the day each night. It is a good idea to print out an emotion of your child's favorite character that he or she can choose to talk about his or her experiences.
3. The language of emotion. Through it, you can learn to understand your emotions and help others to understand you better. In communicating with children, it is important to explain: "I feel because...".
4. Gallery of emotions. Invite the child to draw each emotion. Draw together with the children and compare the drawings.
5. Emotional photo album. Photos with emotions always turn out lively, bright, special. Create such a photo album of memories together with your child.
6. Compass of Emotions. This interesting game will familiarize your child with different emotions. Prepare cards with these emotions: sadness, joy, trust, anger, etc. One player thinks of a situation and selects a card for it. He turns the chosen card over and puts it in the center, and all the other players have to guess what emotion the described situation evokes in the guesser.
