These days, when in doubt, the easiest thing to do is ask a neural network. After all, that’s what it was designed for — to make life easier.
It learns more every day and now, it seems, might even be able to teach children. But can it really replace a real teacher?
What Is a Neural Network?
Let’s start from the beginning: a neural network is a computer program designed to simulate how our brain works — complete with “neurons” and “connections.”
This artificial intelligence (AI) performs tasks typically done by humans, and people use it for everything from writing articles to brainstorming ideas.
Yes, AI is smart — but at this point, it’s like a child who’s really good at Googling. It can help find articles or suggest learning resources, and even generate practice exercises on request.
But AI doesn’t have a teaching degree. It can’t provide a personal approach, especially not one tailored to a child’s needs.

The Pros of AI in Language Learning
AI can absolutely support someone learning a language — if that person is self-motivated and knows how to use it properly.
For example, the well-known ChatGPT is a great tool for language learners. This free neural network can generate lessons, answer questions, and create endless custom exercises based on your level and interests.
There’s also a more advanced paid version of ChatGPT.
But for learning Russian, the free version is more than enough to get started.
The Downsides of AI Learning
Here’s the tricky part: to get useful, relevant responses from an AI, you have to know how to work with it properly. Otherwise, you might end up with a confusing mess of words that barely make sense.
When it comes to children, things get even more complicated. A child needs motivation. They need learning materials presented in a way that’s fun and meaningful to them.
And remember — AI is not human. That means its mistakes are sometimes… inhuman. Some of them can even be harmful if you're not paying close attention. There's an entire field of research on this topic.
So yes, AI is helpful — but it will never replace a real teacher.

How to Keep the “Russian Soul” Alive
At Palme School, our teachers don’t just teach the Russian language.
Our mission is to help preserve and pass down Russian culture to children growing up abroad. It’s about more than just grammar and vocabulary.
We use custom learning methods tailored to different ages and personalities. For younger kids, we introduce Russian language and culture through fairytales. Older children explore Russian history and develop cultural awareness through fascinating facts and stories about historical figures.
The Russian mindset is unique. Even foreigners who’ve lived in Russia for years often don’t fully understand it. Sadly, kids surrounded by non-Russian speakers often lose touch with their roots. They begin to adopt the habits of their foreign peers. They start thinking in English instead of Russian.
But you can help preserve your child’s “Russian soul.” It’s more than just language and culture — it’s also about a deep, emotional connection to family and heritage, especially when living far from home.
Our passionate teachers will inspire your child to love the Russian language and culture. They’ll look forward to class — and no matter where they live, they’ll remain proudly Russian at heart.
