The Second Sunday of Advent is celebrated a week after the first Sunday of Advent. On this day, two candles are lit in the Christmas wreath - the Prophecy candle and the second candle, the Bethlehem candle. This candle should traditionally be purple in color.
The second Sunday before Christmas recalls the birth of Jesus from the Virgin Mary and the biblical prophecies that foretold his coming into the world.
