Hi! Palme School here, we're here with some cool news. We've updated the Russian language program.
What does that mean?
RKI (Russian as a foreign language) is a new science, in which knowledge of Russian, the native language, pedagogy, psychology and even neurobiology is interwoven. The Palme School keeps its finger on the pulse and explores new materials and research. Our old program was great, but over time any program needs updating, so we've added a few tweaks
What does the Palme School program look like now?
1. Cycle-based learning. 1 cycle consists of 7 blocks (35 lessons) or 14 blocks (70 lessons). A cycle lasts approximately 8-9 months of continuous learning. Our cyclical program is your personalized learning path.
That means:
- The child can start the class at any time.
- We will freeze and then restore the subscription and the student will not lose progress.
- You can stay on one level longer if you need to refresh your knowledge.
- You can get to the next level faster if the knowledge allows you to move forward and the rest of the group is not yet ready.
2. We immerse students not only in the Russian language, but also in culture. At each level, children interact with different characters from fairy tales and historical figures. They go on a journey with Munchausen, go to the Tretyakovka with Pushkin, talk about a hobby with Ilya Muromets or share a family story with Masha and the Bears.
3. we combine lexical and communicative methods. We teach children to speak with lexical units like stable expressions and whole sentences, rather than memorizing individual words. With our approach, children learn to talk, listen, read and write at once. And they can even start talking at the very first lesson.
4. Project approach. Each block consists of 5 lessons, which are devoted to one topic. And each theme is supported by a project. For example, preschoolers search for a code word by guessing riddles and collecting rebuses during 5 lessons. Older students prepare more serious projects that focus on a theme. They collect artifacts to cement all the knowledge into a single goal in the last lesson. And then move through the cycle to the next project.
5. Context method. Context is the creation of real-life situations to immerse the student in everyday, cultural and social realities or to introduce history, literature and folklore. It helps to talk outside of the learning environment. We offer children virtual excursions to museums, go shopping together or introduce Masha and the Bears to their family.
6. In our toddler classes we use neurogymnastics to develop memory, attention, thinking and logic.
